New minimum requirements for BAUHAUS suppliers

The following letter was sent to all our business partners of Teal Goal Limited. For any clarifications, please get in touch with us by emailing (compliance@tealgoal.ltd) or contacting us online.

Dear business partner

Retail chain stores in Europe play a crucial role in promoting labor rights, good working conditions, and environmental protection in global supply chains. In Germany, the supply chain law applies to companies with over 3,000 employees and became effective on January 1, 2023. This year, we anticipate that the European Union will introduce an even stricter supply chain law across Europe.

BAUHAUS and Teal Goal acknowledge the shared responsibility of businesses to advance sustainable and secure supply chains worldwide. I am writing to inform you about BAUHAUS’s new minimum supplier requirements, which are applicable globally.

Our Sustainability Team will prioritize implementing the new requirements (European Union Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD), CBAM, etc.) and will be ready to answer questions.

I expect your active participation to achieve these goals together. Our Sustainability Team will review each supplier and if more information is needed, we will contact you. However, I have already requested that you assess the following requirements according to our policy.

  • All our business partners must acknowledge and agree that the production of products and the sustainable development of their operation and supply chain comply with the Teal Goal Code of Conduct for business partners. The newest version you can find on www.tealgoal.ltd.
  • Starting January 2024, all new business partners/producers need to have a valid audit before the 1st order is placed. We do accept the following audits:
    • AMFORI/BSCI
    • SA 8000
  • Starting 2024, all existing business partners/producers need to have valid AMFORI/BSCI or SA8000 audits. SMETA/SEDEX will not be accepted by the end of 2024. In case, existing suppliers have valid SMETA/Sedex audits, this will be discussed on a case to case basis.

In future, Teal Goal will prioritise partnerships that demonstrate these shared values and visions of a sustainable future and continuously work to achieve the goals set.

If you require any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us. You can reply to our email (compliance@tealgoal.ltd) or give us feedback on our website (https://www.tealgoal.ltd/about-us/contact-us/).
