Lead Sustainability

As the Lead Sustainability, you are responsible for building up a small team of two people. You have good negotiation skills and experience with suppliers and factory environment. You bring excellent social audit experience (preferable lead auditor) into our team. You can manage a small team and decide independently. Close cooperation with the Sustainability Team in Europe is essential. At Teal Goal you will work daily with the other departments, such as Sourcing, Quality and the Order- & Shipping teams. You will report directly to the Executive Director.

Responsibility of the new team

  • Internal project management/introduction of new tasks related to Sustainability at Teal Goal
  • Regular updates and education of Teal Goal staff on sustainability topics and provide relevant information for support. Responsible for raising awareness & increase internal knowledge.
  • Administrative takeover of cross-departmental subjects such as BSCI, FSC or packaging optimisation.
  • Coordination work with our German Purchasing Office.
  • And support the European BAUHAUS offices with their sustainability projects.
  • Determining, monitoring, and implementing the consequences if suppliers do not meet targets.

Current projects you will take over the lead in Asia

  • BSCI membership with monitoring of audits starting from 2023. BSCI mapping for our European BAUHAUS offices.
  • Following up Code of Conducts with suppliers
  • BEPI membership of BAHAG with follow-up tasks similar to BSCI set for next year.
  • Circular economy, waste management and thereby initiated packaging optimisation and measures for recycling of product packaging. In this context, implementation of new packaging guidelines.
  • Implementation of the European Supply Chain Obligations legislations.
  • SAQ (Self Assessment Questionnaire for Social & Environmental Compliance of Suppliers) for European BAUHAUS offices.
  • Carbon Footprint project starting 2023.
  • Planning and implementation of IT system enhancements together with the IT departments.

Personal requirements

You have at least 4 years of working experience in a Sustainability department for a European Retailer and a solid background in the European market. You have excellent social audit experience. You can work independently, and you are self-motivated. Furthermore, you are a team player with excellent communication & presentation skills in English & also Chinese (preferable).
